4-count with straight-diagonal color coding

From jugglingpatterns

Patterns to do before this one

Pattern description

You have clubs of two different colors, typically 3 of one color and 3 of another color, for example white and orange clubs.

Now the rule is: we always stay in a kind of 4-count (3 selfs after a pass), but all orange clubs are thrown diagonal, causing a hurry while all white clubs are thrown straight.

To run this pattern comfortably, you need to see the color of your club that becomes a pass in advance early enough to decide the type of throw and you also have to see what color the club of the other passer is to be able to avoid collisions.

You can sort the colors on starts, so the same sequence repeats, but really the goal is to be able to react to whatever situation you are in and it's better to just start with whatever colors you have.

In this pattern passes are actually thrown in sync. Key to the pattern are floaty passes, that take a bit longer than the selfs, to make the hurries easier for the other person.

Flips

It is probably possible to do the flips accompanying the hurry, but I haven't tried

Obviously the same can be done in 2-count, but time for deciding becomes quite short.
