7-club 3-count 966

← Back to Double Passes

7 club 3-count or 966 is an asynchronous pattern consisting of selfs and double passes. One side throws straight double passes, the other throws diagonal double passes.

In my currently most often done start, A has 4 clubs and does straight passes and starts with a double pass from the right hand. And B starts half a beat later with self, dpass, self beginning from the left hand (and the left hand has two clubs). This is adapted from a start where A starts the same way and B starts 1.5 beats later with a dpass from the right hand.

Starting half a beat later with a self has some small advantages. For one, you wait the same time as in other asynchronous patterns for your first throw. Also, the self means you do not have to start with a double pass with two clubs in one hand - which feels more unplaeasant, because you try to wait as long as possible to wait not less than 1.5 beats.

Throw Sequence:

A 2|2: dP S S
B 1|2: S S dP
